Trinity DNA Solutions provides Child DNA Protection Kits at Pensacola Family Expo
Milton, Florida [September 2, 2005] Free Child O'MineTM DNA kits will be offered to parents and guardians during the 13th annual Baptist Health Care Family Expo scheduled for Saturday, September 10.
Trinity DNA Solutions, an accredited DNA testing facility located in Milton will provide the free DNA kits. The kits are part of Trinity's Child O'MineTM DNA protection program.
"We're pleased to be asked to participate again in this year's event. Last year we gave away approximately 500 kits and we're happy to again provide this service to the community, states Candy Zuleger, president and lab director. This year our kits are a little different and will include not only the swabs, but additional information that can be very helpful in emergency situations.
The Child O'MineTM kits provide a collection of information that includes a standard DNA buccal swab. The DNA sample can later be processed and used to identify your child for the rest of their life. Zuleger, a former crime lab scientist with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement wants to raise parents awareness that should the unthinkable happen this type of information makes a difference.
"During the development of this program I was shocked at the number of kids that are reported missing every year," said Dave Perry, Marketing Director. According to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), in 1999 an estimated 797,500 children, nearly 2,200 a day were reported missing.
"There are other DNA programs; ours differs in that Trinity DNA Solutions is an accredited laboratory and that gives us the capability of submitting a missing child's DNA profile to be loaded into the state and national DNA database for missing persons. Other programs do not have this capability," Perry states.
Parents are encouraged to participate.
Trinity DNA Solutions, one of only a dozen accredited private forensic laboratories in the U.S. provides forensic, paternity and identity DNA testing to the general public and to law enforcement agencies and courts.
